ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
As you know, Govt of India’s biggest tax reform in 70 years of independence, The Goods and Services Tax (GST), was finally launched on the midnight of 30 June 2017 and came into existence w.e.f. 1st July 2017.
The GST is a Value added Tax (VAT) and is proposed to be a comprehensive indirect tax levy on manufacture, sale and consumption of goods as well as services at the national level. It will replace all indirect taxes levied on goods and services by the Indian Central and State governments.
Though GST is an excellent piece of legislation introduced as The Constitution Act 2017 following the passage of 102nd Constitution Amendment Bill, several grey areas and anomalies have been brought out during the implementation phase.
Mr. Prabath in his presentation will trace out the design of GST, main features of GST Law, the Administrative setup and IT Network and GST Implementation process highlighting the following:-
- Key areas of implementation such as registration of all locations
- Review of the past cases
- Transitional credits
- Cost reduction
- Reverse charge mechanism
