Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated Amal Jyothi Rural Technology Business Incubation
Centre named 'Start-ups Valley' and the Bosch Training Centre at Amal Jyothi Engineering
College campus here on Sunday.
The Start-ups Valley is the first of its kind in the self-financing education sector in the State. So far, 18 companies had commenced operations there. The centre was established with Rs. 1.95 crore assistance from DST and Rs. 1.7 from college management. Kanjirapally Bishop Mar Mathew Arackal presided the function. Auxiliary Bishop Mar Jose Pulickal; Anto Antony, MP; N. Jayaraj, MLA; Mathew Paikatt, manager; PT Joseph, director; Z.V. Lakaparambil, principal; and others spoke.
The CM also honoured in-house cyber security expert Hemanth Joseph, student in Amal Jyothi College and the winners of the Malayala Manorama-SIB ‘Big Business Idea’ contest, Mr Dan Jose, Mr Chandu Das K, Mr Allan Jose Sabu, and Mr Adarsh David Lal. The team was mentored by Mr Anoop SS. Their idea of converting plastic waste to transport grade fuel components won the top prize of Rs 1 lakh.
